We are delighted to share some brilliant local news: a front garden we designed and built for a client in Maidenhead has been recognised as a Garden in Bloom Award winner (2025).

Garden in Bloom is one of those initiatives we genuinely love because it celebrates the everyday gardens that quietly make a street feel cared for, welcoming, and alive.

What is the Garden in Bloom Award?

Garden in Bloom is run by the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead (RBWM) and recognises street-facing gardens that brighten neighbourhoods. Gardens can be nominated as long as they are visible from a public pavement or road and located within the borough.

The 2025 programme launched in April and invited residents and passers-by to nominate their favourite gardens.

The award-winning garden in Maidenhead

Front gardens are small spaces with a big job. They are the first impression of a home, and they shape how a whole road feels to walk down.

For this Portlock Road project, the goal was simple and demanding at the same time:

• create a smart, structured frontage that looks great every day

• keep it practical and easy to maintain

• ensure it feels considered and premium, not overdesigned

You can see that in the finished details:

• crisp edging and clean geometry that frames the space

• a strong entrance route that guides you to the front door

• gravelled sections that stay tidy and drain well

• evergreen structure planting for year-round neatness

• a balanced layout that looks composed from the street

The end result is the kind of garden that feels “finished” from every angle, even in winter.
