OUR LANDSCAPING SERVICES IN WOODLEY
Best Spoke Garden Designs Tailored To Your Woodley Home.
A good garden design starts with the things you cannot see in a photograph: where the water goes, how the light moves across the plot, and how much level change you are actually dealing with. We survey all three before drawing anything.
Woodley has a lot of post-war housing, and with it a lot of long, narrow rear gardens that are wider than they look once the fence line is opened up. These plots respond well to being broken into zones rather than left as a single corridor — a terrace near the house, a lawn or planted section in the middle, and something worth walking to at the far end. On the older roads nearer the town centre, plots tend to be broader and shallower, which is a different problem: usually screening and privacy rather than length.
Our design work covers layout drawings, levels and drainage, material selection, and a full planting plan with species chosen for the aspect and soil you actually have. You get a plan you could build from, whether or not you build it with us. If you do, the same team that drew it will be on site putting it in.
Quality Hard Landscaping
Hard Landscaping: Patios, Paving and Driveways.
Hard landscaping is the part of a garden that fails first when it is done badly, and it is most of what we get called out to fix. A patio is only as good as what is underneath it. We dig out to a proper depth, lay and compact a sub-base in layers, and set falls so water runs away from the house rather than towards it.
For patios we work in porcelain, natural stone, sandstone flags and clay brick. Porcelain is the most popular choice in Woodley at the moment — it holds its colour, stays clean, and does not go slippery in a wet winter the way some sandstone does. Brick and flagstone patios and decking suit the older properties better, particularly where there is existing brickwork to match. We will bring samples and lay them out in your garden before you commit, because material choices look completely different in daylight on site than they do in a showroom.
For driveways, we install block paving, resin-bound and gravel. One thing worth knowing before you plan a front garden: since 2008, if you are surfacing more than five square metres of front garden in England, it has to be permeable or drain to a soakaway inside your own boundary. Otherwise, you need planning permission. We design driveways to meet that from the start, so it is not a problem later.
Complete Garden Solutions
Planting, Lawns and Fencing
Soft landscaping is what makes a garden feel finished. We lay turf, install artificial grass where a lawn genuinely will not work, plant borders to a proper plan, and put in fencing and screening.
Gardens on the heavier ground around the Loddon Valley can hold water through the winter, and it is worth saying plainly that no lawn survives standing water. Where drainage is the underlying problem, we deal with that first — land drains, improved topsoil, or a raised bed structure — rather than laying fresh turf over a problem that will kill it by the second winter.
For fencing, we fit closeboard, feather-edge and contemporary slatted screens. We generally recommend concrete posts over timber: they cost a little more at the outset, but they do not rot at ground level, which is where almost every fence fails. Worth knowing before you plan: you can normally put up a fence to two metres in a rear garden without permission, but only one metre where it borders a road or footpath.
Bespoke Services
What We Do
Every job starts with a site visit. We look at levels, drainage, access, and what is already there, talk through what you want, and then send a written quote that itemises the work rather than giving you a single figure. Nothing is charged for at that stage.
Once you are happy, we schedule the work and give you a start date and a realistic duration. We keep one team on your garden until it is finished rather than moving people between jobs, and we clear the site properly at the end. Everything we build is guaranteed, and if something needs looking at afterwards, we come back.
Our landscaping services in Woodley include:
Patio design and installation
Driveways and pathways
Full garden redesigns
Steps and raised beds
Decking and pergolas
Turfing and lawn renovation
Planting schemes and borders
Hedge planting and soft landscaping
Garden walls and retaining walls
Because we work across both hard and soft landscaping, we can plan the whole garden properly rather than treating each feature in isolation.
Trusted Local Landscapers
Working Across Woodley and the Surrounding Area
We work throughout Woodley, including Woodley town centre, Bulmershe, Loddon Bridge and Woodford Park. We also cover the surrounding villages and suburbs: Earley, Winnersh, Sonning, Charvil, Twyford and Hurst.
Being local matters more than it sounds. It means we can get to you for a quote within a few days rather than a few weeks; our team arrives on site at a sensible hour, and if something needs attention after the job is finished, we are twenty minutes away rather than on the other side of the county.
